CONFESSIONS: VOLKAN, CHEATING ON JOSE, COLEEN'S GETTING MARRIED AND WE DON'T GIVE A RAT'S
It's time for a few confessions.
- Austria/Poland is on right now and it's actually really amusing. The Austrians, bless them, can't even find it in themselves to score on a nearly open net which they've had the good luck to come across three times in the opening fifteen minutes. Artur Boruc looked like he was ready to kill someone as he screamed and shouted inches away from one of his defenders' faces in the 75th minute. [EDIT: The Austrians tied the score up with a penalty by the end of it. 1-1.]
- Switzerland v Turkey - The downside: Philippe Senderos is out. We've been harbouring an admittedly bizarre obsession with the Swiss baldie for some time now so although we're not shocked, we're devastated. The upside: Spying wet and muddy Turkish keeper, Volkan Demirel several times throughout the match. A fine consolation prize.
- We don't care about Coleen's wedding. While TIET normally divides it's football non-coverage equally between leering at half naked footballers, saying rude things about what the WAGs wear and do and rambling briefly about the actual games in an amateurish and frilly manner, we simply cannot find it in us to give a crap about what the Rooneys are up to over in Italy. If you'd like to read a bit more about Coleen's wedding misadventures in Italy however, here are a few links: Guardian: Wayne and Coleen's wedding: bigger, but better? ; Telegraph: Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin marry in Italy ; Daily Mail: Coleen's tears of joy as she marries tie-less Wayne in the rain [Note: We've heard that the photos that the DM have might not be of the actual wedding dress but of some sort of pre-wedding wedding dress. Don't quote us on that - we'll just have to wait and see.]
- We're offically cheating on Jose with Croatia manager, Slaven Bilic. He got a bit rowdy during Germany/Croatia today and we enjoyed it very much. The Sunday Herald did a neat little interview with him where he spouted this gem: 'No matter how big a job I might have after this, I don't know - whether it's Brazil or a small club in Croatia - I will never be more proud than being the manager of my country.' A man with actual morals, loyalty and patriotism? In football? Well, this is different.

That's one hell of an ass, though.
