THE 'S' WORD

[I enjoy David Beckham. That doesn't make him my favourite player. Not by a long shot.]

Every lady soccer fan, at some point, is going to be presented with the 'you only like soccer for the hot boys' argument.

It seems there are still a whole lot of people -- and it's not only men mind -- who are of the opinion that a lady who enjoys her soccer and, by way of her soccer, Thierry Henry's bottom and David Beckham's glorious shirtless moments, cannot possibly know a whole lot about the actual game.

Fellow Lady, Andrea of Ladies..., recently did a very interesting Q&A with Fanhouse regarding sexism in sports blogging where she spoke about some of the issues surrounding being a lady in the sports blogging world.

A very decent read and something that all of us should take a moment to think about.

I'm not going to lie, I do watch soccer just for the men. But it's like my one outlet, everything else I am entirely on top of. From what I've seen all of you are incredibly knowledgeable about the sport, so I don't feel so bad.
Actually, at first I started watching for the guys and then only did I start getting interested in the game. Guys were just the hook but there is so much more to it than that. I love footie so much I'm going to paint a mural on my bedroom wall... And I play football at school.
great article!
i play soccer in our college varsity so i love watchin it for the game. the hot eye-candies are a very welcome bonus!
Many of the sports blogs run by women are even better than the male-created ones.

You go, girls!
